From Applewood Village, the trail entrance is behind and between 69 Cortland Lane and 71 Cortland Lane (in Applewood Two). It’s hard to miss. After a couple hundred yards or so, at the top of a small hill, you’ll arrive at an red AT&T cable marker on a pole.

Just after this marker is a small black and white sign that says “Acton Conservation Commission Boundary Marker.” This is, presumably, the Acton-Boxboro border. Crossing the border, you enter the Guggins Brook Conservation Land. There are red trails (access), blue trails (long loops), and a yellow trail (short loop). The trails are well marked with blazes and signs:

From here, the shortest route to Idylwilde Farms is to take a left turn (west) and follow the yellow trail. The trail turns to the north and then goes primarily east. Take the first red access trail (left turn) to leave the conservation land. You’ll exit via the red trail near 344 Central Street, Acton, just north of Half Moon Hill and just south of Idylwilde Farms. At this trail entrance, there is an access sign:
